Morning call at 7.30am. Went down to have breakfast and we left the hotel at 8.30am to start our tour journey. Our first destination is to the pier to visit the floating market. The floating market we went was a small floating market. They only sells souvenir instead of marketing stuff. Nothing much there. Then we made a stop at one of the temple. Wat Arun Ratchawararam (Arun Royal Temple) is the name. It was a Grand Royal Temple to King Rama II, Phrabaht Somdej Phraputha Lertlamaphalai, which was a grand elegant stupa and locacted on the banks of Chao Phraya River with it’s height 67metre has been decorated by many thousand pieces of Chinaware which is an unique temple.
After the temple visit, we head to the world’s biggest jewelry store. All sorts of gems you can get there and not forgetting pearls, gold and white golds too. I didn’t get anything from there because I cannot afford to buy them. It’s not that expensive tho just that I didn’t budget to buy such stuff from Thailand. We left that place around 1-2pm.
After the jewelry store, we went to Chatuchak weekend market. This is probably the world’s largest open-air weekend flea market. You can find almost anything under the sun. We are given 3 hours to spend there and yet it’s still not enough. We only walk ¼ of the whole place. My colleague and me plan to go there again if we have the time. I bought a thai 2 piece dress from there which cost me 670Bhat which is equivalent to RM67. I’ll be wearing that dress for my dinner later tonight since the dinner theme is something about thai. I tried out their insect delicacy which comprise of fried worms, grasshopper, dragonfly and etc. it didn’t taste that bad. Don’t judge a book by its cover. I kinda like the taste of the worm. The rest is crunchy but a bit bitter. It’s like you are eating a burned fried chicken.
At around 7pm we went back to hotel to shower and get ready for the dinner. Our nightmare (orientation) had arrived. And we still haven’t decided on what song to sing for the orientation. We are really ‘sat pai’. But thank God that my other 2 colleague wrote a lyrics. It goes like this: -
Thailand land of smile
Like we all are now
Smiling ear to ear
Thanks to partners here
Getting Bangkok trip
Watching aquashow
Eating Tom Yam Kung
Having all the fun
Chorus: Savadeeka, Kob Kun Kah
That’s all we know in Thai
So don’t blame our show
If it’s not that good
Cause we’ve caught off guard
In this orientation
We are exhausted
Lost in Chatuchak
Going round & round
Trying to find our way
Chorus: Rot ni noi, mai phaeng
That’s how we bargain there
A place called ‘Pat Phong’
Like ‘Pasar Malam’
Also red district
Where there’s Tiger Show
But then all in all
We all did enjoyed
It’ll be in our mind
Till the next group trip
So what do you think? Cool eh… hehehehe….
We had some activities during out dinner. One of them is the new comers orientation. We have prizes for the best group performance for the night and obviously the aquashow group won the performance. They are really hilarious and sporting too. My group is too serious. Well, what the heck… as long as we got over with the orientation. Our judges are the partners of the firm. One of the partners impersonates Paul Moss or Simon Cowell. He is so nasty. We all went like.. wooo….
There’s also an orientation for the newly promoted assistant mangers. Theirs are EY Fear Factor. They are being paired up and are given choice to eat fried worm (Thai delicacies), spicy papaya salad, bread with wasabi and 1.5 litre of coke.
Besides orientation, we had a mummy game. Each table is given some toilet rolls and one of them has to be the mummy and the rest wrap that person up with toilet papers. The most creative mummy wins. We had so much fun seeing those mummies freeze while we wrap them up.
Dinner ends around 11pm. I’m so tired. I went to bed after bathing. Tomorrow still a long way more to go since it’s free and easy. So many places to visit. Hehehe…
