Met with my darling in Mid Valley after work. We have no idea what to eat for dinner and end up in a Vietnam restaurant, Codo located at level 3. The food ain’t that tasty. Probably it doesn’t suit my taste bud but I like the design of the restaurant. Very antique looking.

Every table is has a cute little candle. I find it very romantic. Can you spot the chef?

It’s back to KL day. In the morning we went to the market again. And we are delighted to find a DVD seller. The DVDs sold is in fact very very cheap. Each DVD is sold at RM5 as compared to KL which is RM8 each. We bought a number of them. We are finally satisfied with the DVD hunting but now all we hope for is that all the DVDs are clear.

We check out at 12 noon sharp. On the way to Penang Bridge, we stop by McD drive thru to grab our lunch. We are still full so decided to have it on the road back to KL.

I reach home around 5pm. I had a great time in Penang.

Tg Rambutan anyone?

Third day in Penang. In the morning, we went to the nearby morning market which is only a road down from our hotel. Our initial plan was hoping to find some DVD seller since Alvin told us that they do sell in market at a very very low price. So we decided to try our luck but to our disappointment, not even a single DVD seller is found. All we found is fresh vegetables, raw fish and chicken. With disappointment, we stop by at a hawker stall to have breakfast.

After breakfast we continue our search for DVD hunting. We decided to go to Prangin Mall. We have no idea where is the mall situated although we have the map which is given by Alvin last night which is very helpful. However, we simply bang and manage to find the mall. We reach the mall at around 10.30am and the shops is still closed. They open at 11am. We have no choice but to wait for the shops to open because it is raining pretty heavy outside. There, we manage to buy a few DVD which cost RM3 per DVD. But the RM3 DVDs are limited. Most of it is RM7 and RM12 each.

Since our satisfaction for DVDs is still low, we decided to go to Bukit Jambul shopping complex which is at the far south of Penang. Somewhere near Penang Bridge. Again, the DVDs are RM7 and RM12 each. So we didn’t buy any because according to past history, DVDs in Penang are very cheap. It can be bought at RM5 each. So we did not give up and decided to give it a try again tomorrow in the market we went this morning because Alvin say usually the DVD seller will only come on Sundays. So we decided to trust him another time.

From Bukit Jambul we went back to hotel and get ready for Hitz.fm Beach Party in Bayview Beach Resort in Batu Ferringi. It supposes to start at 5pm but since it has been raining the whole day so the party starts late. We reach around 6:30pm and the games have started but not the stage performance by local artist. We only stayed there for 15 minutes then we left the place. Nothing to do there and nothing to see there.

We had dinner in Tanjung Bungah in one of the food court. Then we went back to hotel. We are leaving Penang tomorrow after check out.

Second day in Penang. We ate maggi mee which we bought from 7 Eleven last night for breakfast. We are lazy to drive out for breakfast and there are no shops nearby the apartment. We checked out pretty early around 10am and head on to town centre.

Before we check in to our next hotel, we went to Kek Lok Si Temple and Penang Hill. We have no place to visit but since we are already in Penang, so we decided to visit some tourist attraction. Kek Lok Si is a good place for exercising. With the amount of steps you need to past before reaching the temple, I’m sure you are able to lose some amount of calories. We had our lunch at a nearby coffee shop at the bottom of Kek Lok Si Temple.

From Kek Lok Si, we went to Penang Hill which is less than a drive away. We took the train up to Penang Hill and when we reach the top of Penang Hill, we are too tired to walk. So we decided to take the next available train back down to the bottom of the hill. Hahaha..

After Penang Hill we drove to the city and we checked in to Oriental Hotel. We roughly know where is Oriental Hotel situated because we passed by there last night when we were searching for Sunway Hotel.

When we reach the city we saw Cititel Hotel (Oriental Hotel is situated opposite Cititel) and we have no idea how to go there. We pass by the Komtar roundabout for like more than 10 times. Finally after passing through all the small lanes which is actually a Jalan to Penang people but more to a lorong for KL people, we finally manage to get to the hotel.

We will be staying in this hotel for 2 nights 3 days. Per night cost us RM76. It’s a walking distance to Komtar which is very convenient.

Later at night I met up with my primary friend, Alvin who works in Cititel Hotel. I met him at the hotel’s reception. Cititel Hotel is so much nicer and looks more comfortable than the one we stayed. Cititel is 4 stars hotel and Oriental is only 2 stars hotel. No wonder there’s a huge difference. He brought us to some hawkers behind Oriental Hotel. We walked quite a distance to reach the hawkers. After makan, he brought us to one of the best hotel in Penang, Eastern & Oriental Hotel which is down the road from where we were staying. The cheapest room cost at least RM700++. The hotel looks very luxury from the outside. Wish I have that kind of money to spent to pamper myself in a luxury hotel.

Yay! I’m going to Penang for holiday today. I left house early in the morning. The journey to Penang was 4 hours. I reach Penang around 1pm. This is my first time being on Penang Bridge. Last time I travel to Penang by plane. So never use Penang Bridge but I might be above Penang Bridge, who knows. Hahaha…

Once there we checked into Sri Sayang Apartment located at Batu Ferringhi. We didn’t get lost locating the apartment though thanks to the wonderful sign board which directed us from mainland to the apartment. The apartment was ok. What more would you expect for a RM88 apartment per night?

Immediately after checking in, we went out for lunch. We went to Gurney Plaza’s food court for lunch. I had vegetarian bak kut teh for lunch. Then we just walk around Gurney Plaza. It’s huge. And to our surprise, we found Celebrity Fitness Gym there. We are not aware of the new outlet there. We wanted to enter the gym to have a look since we have all clubs pass but too bad I forgot to bring my access card along. I’ve emptied my purse and bring necessary cards with me only. It looks small from outside.

After that we went back to the apartment. We took a walk at the beach. The beach expected is as dirty as ever. Sigh… why can’t we have clean beautiful beaches?

We met up with my secondary classmate, Zing Yee for dinner and she brought along 3 of her guy friends. They are funny especially the one who wore red that day (Sorry, I forgot your name). We went to 3 different places for dinner. First stop was of course Gurney Drive. Apparently the usual Gurney Drive stall was re-allocated to a temporary empty land nearby because they are upgrading the old Gurney Drive. There’s lesser stalls and the old Gurney Drive environment which is packed with people is not there. And furthermore the prices have gone up. Last time (Last year) the Fried Kuey Teow cost RM2.50 per plate and today it cost RM3.50 per plate which is equivalent to the price in KL. I was so disappointed. I was hoping to go Penang for their delicious and cheap food.

From there we went to another food heaven place somewhere near Penang Sunway Hotel. All of us have no idea how to go to that place. So we simply bang and we found the place. Well, Penang is not that big after all. This place is even worst. The Fried Kuey Teow cost RM4. Hahaha.. more expensive than the ones in KL.

From there we went to Tanjung Bungah. Behind Naza Hotel. Zing and her friends want to give a visit to the beach. After that we all went back home. From Tanjung Bungah to our apartment is not that far. It’s about 2 minutes drive away.

140km more to reach Penang

YTL's simen plant

1KM more to George Town. Finally!

Penang Bridge. My first time.

I’ve nothing to do today. Since I got nowhere to go and nothing to do, so I decided to go over to Sungai Wang to do my hair with my Snips RM150 cash voucher because yesterday I stopped by at Sungai Wang and enquire about the pricing. The treatment cost RM150 which is within my budget. I brought my younger brother there with me.

I was the first customer in Snips. They ask me to sit down and then before they do anything, I hand them my cash voucher. It turns out that they don’t allow me to use the entire 3 RM50 cash voucher together. I can only use one at a time. Meaning I can only use one RM50 cash voucher. I try to argue with them that it did not state that I cannot use the entire 3 voucher together. But still they don’t allow. So I just walked out the saloon. Sigh… I thought I can use that voucher for treatment. Now that voucher is just a waste. Well, probably I can use it for hair cut. I doubt the hair cut will cost more than RM50.

Another weekend. Today I met up with 2 of my secondary friends, Zing Yee and Ju Wei. We went to KLCC. We didn’t do much things there. Just walk around and have lunch together. KLCC is so boring. Less than an hour we have finished window shopping. I didn’t buy anything from there.

Around 5pm, we parted. I met up with my darling whom happens to be working today and his office is only a minute walk away from KLCC. We went to Low Yat for a while to get myself a speaker. My darling has downloaded many English series and they are Desperate Housewife season 2, Monk season 1 and Full House season 1. So I need a speaker as my laptop speaker is kinda soft. The speaker only cost me RM19. Cheap hor.

I left office at 5:30pm. I got to rush back home to buy dinner for my little brother and my mum because my mum is coming back late as she went to an oil palm plantation in Teluk Intan. Apparently her company is investing in an oil palm plantation and they go there to learn about the processes of an oil palm.
After preparing dinner for them, I went out with my darling to the Lantern Festival in Bukit Jalil. The entrance fee cost RM5 and it’s stated in the website RM3. Sigh… its kinda expensive for some festival which barely has anything inside. I was kinda disappointed. My advice for those of you who wanted to go, please do not go. It’s a waste of time and money.

Sigh… work as usual. But today I’m more flexible because my manager and senior are not around. They went to Thailand for work purposes. But then again, I got work to do. They leave behind all the work for me to clear for them. But it’s ok. As long as I can go back at 5:30pm sharp. Hahaha…

When I reach home, I got a letter from DIGI. I can’t wait to open the letter because I’ve joined a couple of contest. So this must be the prize I’ve won. I tore the envelope open and only to find out that I’ve won RM150 Snips cash voucher. Sigh… I was kinda disappointed because I was expecting to win the grand prize which is a Samsung MP3 player. Not that I wanted a MP3 but then it’s the grand prize. The voucher is only the consolation prize. Well, anyway I think I can make use of the voucher for hair treatment. Or probably I should highlight my hair. Hmmm… what should I do? Any suggestions?

In the morning went and service my car. I’ve waited for an hour in the workshop. Luckily I brought along my story book to keep me accompany. From the workshop I went to my darling’s house. Pick him up and we went to 1U. We watched another movie after gym. Watched Disney’s Cars. It’s pretty hilarious. There are so many kids in the cinema. Oh yea, before the movie starts, they has this little game. They asked us to reach below our seats and see whether there is an envelope. Too bad I don’t have any envelopes below my seat buy my darling has. Those who found the envelope have to shout Double Decker. Then they have to go down the cinema and collect their gifts. The gift consists of 4 Double Decker snacks and 2 complimentary tickets from TGV Cinema. Hmmm... not bad for a RM9 show.

After that we met my primary friend, Hooi for steamboat dinner in Manjalara. Yet again, he said I put on weight. Sigh… I really did put on weight. Now I must really do something about it before it gets worst. I just got a huge appetite recently. Or should I say for the past 1 month. I can just eat and eat and eat. Someone, please stop me from eating!!! Argh!!!

Fist weekend after my exam. Yay! I went to Cineleisure for movie. Watched X-Men III. The cinema is pretty comfortable. All the chairs are twin seats and the price is still RM10 instead of RM12. But the cinema is pretty small. I think that’s why it’s called Cineplex.

Nothing much to do at work today. That’s because I’ve been avoiding work. Hahaha.. I just wanna take a break after a long study break. Don’t feel like working after 2 ½ weeks of study break. I left office at 5:30pm sharp and went to 1U for gym. It has been a while since I went to gym. And furthermore I’ve put on weight. Everyone is saying that I’ve put on weight. Sigh… got to go on diet already.

Sigh… I think I flung today’s paper. Paper 3.1 – Audit. I have no confidence at all on my answer. But I did manage to answer all 5 questions. But I was practically carping all the way. Well, I hope I don’t get crappy results. This is my 2nd attempt already. I really don’t know how to tackle this paper. Please do let me pass this paper. Sigh… anyway, exams are over for this semester. Next semester is a nightmare. I’m gonna take the core papers next semester and if I fail my paper 3.1, I have to take 4 papers instead of 3. Sigh… I have no idea how am I gonna survive next semester. And furthermore the classes are madness. Every Thursday and Friday evening and whole day on weekends. Sigh… that’s all I can say.

Today is my first ACCA exam paper. Paper 3.4 – Business Information Management. This is my first attempt and I think I did pretty well. I manage to answer all the 5 questions with confidence. I just hope that I pass this paper. There’s another paper to worry about after this. The tips or questions that the lecturer in Kasturi spotted was pretty good. He spotted 4 out of 5 questions and it came out. I guess it was luck. Hehehe… I hope I have the same luck for tomorrow’s paper.

Finally it’s Friday. Interview day is here. Apparently they ask us to reach at 8:30am sharp but starts at 9am. They gave us a short briefing on what is the program is all about and also a little bit of the company. This program is called Financial Management Program (FMP). It’s a 2 years training and divided into 4 rotations they called it. One rotation is 6 months. And in each rotation they sent you to a single department and you take up the post for 6 months. After every 6 months you have to sit for a test base on the rotation that you are doing. And you have to pass at least 85% of the test to go for the next rotation. You are only allowed to fail once in 2 years and if you fail you have to repeat that particular rotation. For all the 4 rotation, at least one rotation will be an overseas department. So you get to go overseas for 6 months. Overseas such as Singapore, Japan, USA, China, Australia and etc. Food and lodging are provided for overseas rotation for the whole 6 months.

After the briefing, we are divided into 2 groups and we did a little brain storming game. After that it was our turn to do out stuff which is presentation of the business case. Again we are divided into 2 bathes. One is the morning batch and the other is the afternoon batch. I was thankful that I was placed in the morning batch and it will end by lunch time instead of 4pm in the evening. I was the unlucky one to be the first to present. But then again I don’t mind, the faster it is the better. So I presented my stuff and I don’t think I did a good job. I can’t see what the others present but I think they did better than me after discussing with them. Hahaha…

After the presentation, we are given a small quiz. It’s a fill in the blanks for income statement and balance sheet. The income statement I’m able to do but not for the balance sheet. I can’t seem to tie the balance sheet and I ran out of time to complete it. Well, it’s just a quiz. Hahaha…

I left that place around 2pm. I’m glad that everything is done. But it’s a really good experience. I get to meet many nice candidates there. They are all so intellectual and experience. So I doubt that I can get the job since the competition is so tight.
Well, I still have to continue my revision later that day. But my head feel so much lighter after the interview and presentation. At least one burden is down and another one to go i.e. exams. I could hardly sleep well for the past few nights. I was so stress and tension. But now it’s all good.
