Guess what! I got a call from GE Company. (GE – General Electric). My dad knows the HR Director in this company. He patronizes my dad’s shop everyday and decided to offer me a job in their company. So my dad asks me to give it a try and I pass him all my resume and relevant certificates. GE is a multinational company and it’s not easy to get in. So, I didn’t really put high hope on getting the job but then again, no harm trying it out right? Who knows I’m lucky to get in?

The past 2 weeks, they called me for a phone interview. That time I was working and I’m in my client’s place. The phone line that time was really bad. The line got cut off like 4 – 5 times and I could hardly hear what he is asking or saying. He did ask 3 questions and all 3 I could hardly answer. So I thought I screw the phone interview and there goes my chance of getting the job. But who knows they call me today and ask me to go for interview this coming Friday. I was so happy. I was speechless.

Well, I was happy for the time being until I read the e-mail they sent for further details on this Friday’s interview. They gave us homework. Yeah, homework for interview. How not cool is that. It’s a business case study and all the candidates have to present it on Friday. The case goes like this:-
‘You are an independent businessperson meeting with a group of bankers from the "GE Bank". You have submitted a business loan application to the GE Bank and have been called to explain your intended business venture. Your task is to convince the GE Bank to grant the loan. You must do this in 15 minutes, using your presentation to demonstrate your analysis of how/why this venture will be successful. It is very important your presentation does not exceed 15 minutes and you should factor in a few minutes for questions from the bankers. The most critical elements upon which we evaluate presentations are: * Organization skills* Analysis skills* Persuasiveness of the facts presented’

Sounds pretty scary huh the case. There are so many things to do but so little time to prepare. And the worst thing is that I’m having my ACCA exam this coming Monday and I myself don’t have enough time to finish revising for my exam. Sigh… pressure pressure!.

There are 13 candidates for this round. According to the HR director, there are thousands of applicants but they only hire like 4-5 of us. So I bet they have many other groups besides than the 13 candidates. Out of the 13 candidates for this Friday, one of them is my college mate. Courtney Soh for those of you who know her. I was kinda relieved when I know that I knew someone there this Friday. And apparently the interview will take up the whole day. This is only the first round of interview. There are many more rounds of interview to go. Pressure pressure!

Well, decided to take an off day from my study leave today since my darling is having an off day from work today. So we decided to go for movies. We went to Mid Valley to watch Da Vinci Code. I’ve read the book by Dan Brown and I could hardly understand the story. But I got the gist of the whole story. I’m still interested in watching the movie though and see what I’ve imagine while reading the book do match the movie. The movie is a fast forward version of the book. I think reading the book is still better than watching the movie. The book has more details than the movie. Furthermore, while reading, you let your imagination flow. Not too bad the movie. I was expecting the movie to be boring since the movie is 2 ½ hours long.

After the movie we went to Bangsar Village Shopping Centre because we wanted to have lunch in Café 1920 since we have the discount card and decided to utilize the discount card to the fullest.

After that we are back home. I still have to study for the rest of the evening. At least I feel fresher instead of being in my room for the rest of the week.

This weekend is my last class of revision for this semester. The revision class starts on Friday evening till today. The class today supposes to be from 9am to 6pm but the class ends pretty early today. By 3:30pm the class has ended. Since my initial plan is to leave class at 6pm then my darling come pick me up and we go for steamboat buffet for dinner.

Since my class ended early, I decided to go to the library to study a little bit more and wait for my darling to finish work at 5pm and come pick me up from college. The Sunway library closes at 5pm. so by 4:45pm we all kena halau. Sigh… now I have no place to go. I have to wait at the entrance for my darling to come. He reaches my college around 5:45pm. It is still too early to have dinner. So, we decided to take a walk in Sunway Pyramid instead.

We left pyramid around 7pm and head on to the steamboat buffet just opposite pyramid. There’s 2 steamboat buffet restaurant there. We tried one of them last time and decided to try the other one this time. But when we reach there, the queue is so long. So we decided to go to the other restaurant which is lesser queue. Although it’s lesser queue, we still need to wait for half an hour before we are being seated. Both of us are so hungry while waiting for the table. I think it’s a bad idea to go for a steamboat buffet at that hour because people just start to eat and it takes longer time for them to finish the food. So now I learnt my lesson. We should go there at 6pm or 8pm, not in between.

Time really flies. Without noticing the time, we sat there for 1 ½ hours. We were there from 7:30pm till 9pm. I’m so bloated after the dinner. The price is reasonable. Per person is RM18.80 nett. But I still want to try the other steamboat restaurant. I think its Yuen Steamboat Restaurant. I might go there after my exams. Hehehe.. Anyone wanna join me?

My second day of study break. However, in the morning I decided to do a little shopping in Jusco Puchong since they are having Jusco Members’ Day today. Jusco opens from 9am till 11pm. So I decided to reach there at 9am before the crowd starts to come in. However, I was wrong. The crowd is already there as early as 9am. They are really shopaholics. Furthermore it’s a really wet morning. It was raining so heavily on my way there.

Those people there are mainly housewives and some people who purposely took leave to do shopping. The crowd is crazy man. The fist department I stopped was the lingerie department. The lingerie is really cheap. 50 – 70% off. The ladies there crab all the bras like it’s free. I have to queue for almost half an hour just to try on the bras. Sigh… but I’ve already expected that this will happen.

After getting my bras, I wanted to shop for some clothes but I can’t dig it. There are too many people. It’s so hard to find the clothes you want and worst of all it’s all messed up and it’s hard to find the desired size and the fitting room queue is so long.

So I went downstairs and wanted to get my darling a comforter set. The comforter set is so cheap. I bought him a comforter set my Akemi for RM88. Original price was RM400+. He really need a new comforter set. His current one is so old and faded. Hope he likes the pattern I choose for him. Hehehe..

I wanted to do more shopping but then the crowd is crazy. I can’t stand it anymore. So since I got what I wanted, I left the place after 2 hours of madness shopping. As I’ve suspected the parking is madness. It was so jam to come out form the parking and people fighting for my parking place. I didn’t know that people would do anything to get cheap stuff.

Oh yea. I was so pissed off in the morning when I arrive at Jusco parking entrance. I was actually on the correct lane to turn left into the parking and there’s this stupid fella, go squeeze his car on my left and wanted to go right. So obviously I blast my horn at him la to let him know about my presence. He heard the horn and yet still wanna squeeze through. I horn even louder and guess what he did. He drives in front of me and open his car door so that his car door slams into my font car then he drove off. He’s such a nuisance. Got such people in the world wan ar? Already in the wrong and yet wanna bang my car. If only I’m not alone and it’s not raining I would have got down from the car and scold that fella upside down. I’m so mad at him. Doesn’t he have any patience? These types of people really deserve to be punished in someway. Not that I wanna be mean but don’t you think that’s how it should be? Sigh…

Well, today is my first study leave. However, I decided to have fun for the first day before I start my study marathon. So in the morning I went to my darlings’ place. Had breakfast with him in one of the nearby mamak then played game on his computer. Zuma Deluxe is the game. It’s so addictive.

Then we decided to go to our 2nd home to catch a movie. Mission Impossible III. We had a really cheap lunch in 1 Utama. We bought pre-packed fried rice from Jusco which cost RM1.99 per packet. This is the cheapest lunch we’ve eaten. We bought the pre-packed fried rice and went down to the Jusco food court to consume. W as for the drinks, we went to Jusco supermarket and bought 1litre of Peel Fresh Orange. Hahaha…

As we are about to leave the food court, a gentleman came and approached us. He is a sales boy for café 1920. He offers us a discount card which we think it’s really worth the buy. The discount card cost RM29.90. It sounds expensive but in the long-run it’s really worth it. The privileges are that purchase 1 or more main courses and receive 1 least expensive main course absolutely free. The promotion expires 31 October 2006 and you can use it unlimited and the best thing is that the card is transferable. It’s really a bargain. Since we go to 1Utama so often and every time got to think of what to eat, now our problems are solved. We will always go to Café 1920 for dinner and the food is really tasty. Once we got the card today, we had our dinner there. We ordered the most expensive dish on the menu which cost RM23. My darling had roast beef and beef bacon and I had marinara spaghetti. And we only pay RM23 for both the dishes. How cool is that. Not only that, we even got RM8 discount on drinks.

I left my clients’ place at 5pm sharp. Then my darling came and picks me up from Menara Promet. Then we went to Mid Valley for dinner. Mid Valley used to be our 2nd home but not anymore. It has been taken over by 1 Utama. It has been a while since we went to Mid Valley together. We didn’t do much in Mid Valley, just walk around endlessly and thinking about what to have for dinner.

Finally we decided to have Sushi King for dinner. That was my idea. I feel like eating something ‘eggy’. Both of us had Oyaka Don (steamed rice with chicken, egg and vege) and I had 2 plate of sushi and they are Uzura (Quail egg with mayonnaise) and Yadokari Sushi (Sushi rice topped with shredded egg sheet and fish roe). It tastes so good.

Yay! It’s public holiday today. It’s Wesak Day. Happy Wesak Day everyone. Well, since it’s a holiday today and Mothers’ Day is just around the corner, I decided to take my mum out for treat. I rather take my mum out for a treat earlier than later on Sunday. You know how the crowd will be like on Sunday, the actual day of Mothers’ Day. I took my mum to Spring Valley Chinese Restaurant, one of the restaurants by Tai Thong located in Mid Valley. They are having Dim Sum lunch buffet promotion cost RM23.90++ per person.

Well, the food is not too bad. They claimed that you can choose from over 80 dishes. The dishes available are suckling duck, vegetables, chicken wings, porridge, nasi lemak, few varieties of tim sums, loh mai kai, char siu pau, siew yok, oyster, bamboo clams, soups, desserts, ice-creams, fruits and etc.

After lunch, my mum went to Ultimate Impression for eyebrow embroidery which cost RM350. I didn’t know that my mum really did the embroidery. I thought she walk in to enquire. Actually eyebrow embroidery is one of my New Year’s Resolution list. I wanted to do it so badly but then quite a number of my friends protest and this include my darling. But since now my mum did it, I might be thinking of going for it again. Since I’m sort of running on a low budget this month, I might be doing it next month after my ACCA exams and furthermore I can see how the outcome of my mum’s eyebrow is after a month of embroidery.

From Mid Valley, we went and pick up my dad from Subang after work. Then we went to 2 temples in PJ to pray. As I said, my dad is becoming holy-er as days goes by. We already went to one temple last night and today he wants to go again to another temple. Not one but two. Well, I know there is no harm going to temple to pray. It’s a good thing.

From the temple, my dad stops by PJ New town to buy some stuff. I’m really afraid of going there with my dad because he will spend hours in that small plastic shop. Well, true enough he spent close to an hour in that shop and I waited for him outside the shop. The pathway outside the shop is so narrow and I’m practically blocking the pathway.

Once he is done with his shopping, we went to PJ State for dinner in one of the little kafe. At first we went to Pan Kafe and wanted to eat their set dinner which cost RM8.90+ but since the soup of the day was asparagus, my dad doesn’t want because his main intention to go to the shop is to have their mushroom soup. So he asks them whether can they change the soup to mushroom but they say they ran out of mushroom. So my dad decided to go to the opposite kafe, Strawberry Kafe for dinner. Funny isn’t it? Hahaha…

Yay! Today is the last day of work for the week. Tomorrow is a public holiday. After work I follow my parents to Brickfields temple like we usually do every year for Wesak Day. This year the crowd is smaller. At least I don’t smell of joss stick and sweat. Well, this year my dad is kinda holy. He even bought the Buddha chanting CD which cost RM20. He even buys flowers to donate to the temple which he usually doesn’t. Hmmm…

Oh yea. Remember last week me and my darling went and book hand bouquet flower for his mum for Mothers’ Day. She received it today. The flower didn’t really turn out as nice as the ones we saw in the shop. I guess the flower is a bit ruin in the process of delivery. Well, I do hope she like the flower.

When I was in the temple, my darling went to Jusco, Kepong member’s day. He complains bout the crowd there. Well, if there is a sale, there will surely be a huge crowd. Poor darling of mine, his family went shopping, he has to queue for them and as usual the people there works so slow and the line takes forever to move. There’s even a Jusco lady using loud speaker. Just like Pasar Malam. Or should I say worst than Pasar Malam? Hahaha…

Today my darling got promoted. Well, actually it’s not literally promotion, it’s just an internal transfer within department. But in order to sound nicer, he rather calls it as promotion. He used to be in the call centre but now he’s in the e-mail team. Instead of answering call from the customer service, now is replying e-mails. His salary and position is still the same. Just different department. And the best thing now is that he doesn’t need to work night shift. Last time when he’s in call centre he has 2 shifts, either 8am – 5pm or 3pm – 12am. Now e-mail only morning shift. I’m so happy for him.

So in order to celebrate his ‘internal transfer’ I decided to spend him dinner. We went to Sungai Wang for dinner. We celebrated in Hot Mama restaurant situated on the 4th floor of Sg Wang. He is so happy about the transfer. It seems that many of his colleagues apply for the post but only 3 of them are chosen and my darling is one of the lucky 3. Impressive isn’t it? Furthermore my darling was so worried that he couldn’t get it because they have to take an English test and if you screw the English test once, you will never be able to go to the e-mail team. I knew that he can do it because not many of them can speak proper English.

Well, due to the bad jam in KL, I decided not to drive today. In the morning my mum drops me off in Bukit Jalil LRT station. Then I go down in Hang Tuah station to change to monorail to Raja Chulan. Menara Promet is just in front of the monorail. So I don’t need to walk far.

Then after work my darling pick me up from Menara Promet. We went to Sri Petaling pasar malam for dinner. It has been a while since both of us go to pasar malam together. This is the first time we ate in pasar malam. Literally by the road side. We had Fried Kuey Teow and our dinner only cost us less than RM10. This is so cheap. Hahaha.. We are impressed.

Today my client is based in Menara Promet in KL, opposite Wisma Genting. I drove today. The traffic wasn’t that bad today. I left this place at around 6pm. Then since my darling work in Menara TA One which is only a stone throw away, he decided to pick me up and we go BB for dinner. It took us quite sometime to get to BB from Menara Promet. It was so jam. Sigh… KL will never change.

Today is my first day in Kasturi College for my revision class for ACCA paper 3.1 (Audit and Assurance). The lecturer is Mr. Phillip Woo. If I’m not mistaken I think he’s from Singapore. My first impression about him is that he looks like a chef. He’s kinda big size and furthermore he wore a white button shirt just like those typical chefs does.

I like the way he teach as compared to the Sunway lecturer, Mr Goh although Mr Goh is way more handsome and good looking than Mr. Phillip Woo. Mr. Woo go straight to the point while Mr. Goh beat around the bush. He even gave tips on my other paper 3.4 (Business Information Management). Well, it’s like I’m killing 2 birds with one stone. I hope his tips are reliable because he claimed that his tips are usually 4 out of 5 will come out. I really want to pass these 2 papers this semester. I don’t want to do anymore re-sit.

As for paper 3.1, Mr. Woo taught us how to tackle the exam question with ease. He even asks me to prepare checklist for every questions so that when exam comes, even if we don’t understand the question, we can just whack in the checklist into the question. This will enable us to pass the paper. I can’t wait to try to apply his method into the exams. I hope his method will give me a pass.

The class is from 11am till 8pm. So in the morning, my darling came and sent me to Kasturi. We had breakfast in McD before I go for my class. The Kasturi College reminds me of tuition centre I used to attend when I’m in Form 5 for my SPM and so is the Systematic College I attended for my Diploma. Majority of the Chinese there speak mandarin. The typical kind of tuition centre. In Sunway College, you could hardly hear people speak mandarin. Most of them there speak English which is way easier to communicate for me.

When my class ended, my darling came and picks me up from college. We went to the florist boutique opposite Hotel Malaya and my darling ordered a hand bouquet flower for his mom for Mothers’ Day this coming weekend. The flowers there are so cheap and fresh. It only cost RM50 for 12 stalks of roses and imagine during Valentine Day 6 stalks of roses already cost you a bomb.

After that, we went for dinner in one of the restaurant along Petaling Street. We ate claypot ‘lou shi fun’. I don’t like the service there. It took them 20 minutes to take out order. But luckily the price is cheap. Our dinner only cost less than RM15. After that my darling sent me home. There’s class tomorrow too in Kasturi from 9am till 6pm.

In class at Kasturi College. This reminds me of SPM tuition centre

This is my darling who came and pick me up from college and in one of the restaurant in Petaling Street. I force him to wear this 'gay' baju. He look so sad. Posted by Picasa
